Dr. Bill Deyoe, 82, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Story County Medical Center in Nevada.
Bill was born July 10, 1934 in Two Buttes, Colorado, the son of Walter and Iva (Dellinger) Deyoe. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. On August 23, 1958 Bill was united in marriage to Martha Dow in Burdett, Kansas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree and DVM from Kansas State University and his Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Veterinary Pathology from Iowa State University. Bill spent his entire career as a research veterinarian at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames.
Bill was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church, William F. Ball Legion Post #48, Kansas State Alumni Association and a lifetime member of AVMA and the Animal Health Association. He had served 15 years as Nevada Township Clerk and six years on the Nevada School Board. Bill loved working on the farm.
Bill is survived by his wife, Martha of Nevada; his son, Dave (Deb) Deyoe of Nevada; his daughters: Sue Deyoe (Jeff Lebegue) of Talkeetna, AK, Jan (Chandra) Chegireddy of Duluth, GA and Deb (John) Martenson of Gilman; his brother, Charles Deyoe of Manhattan, KS; his sister, Rita Deyoe-Chiullan of Garland, TX and four grandchildren: Dana (James) Gaylord, Alex Deyoe, Marisa Chegireddy and Amber Martenson. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: John, Richard, Hubert, Eugene, Donald and Duane and one sister, Mildred Owens.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 4 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada Public Library.
