Death of Mrs. H. D. Drake
Lucy M. Winslow-Drake, wife of H. D. Drake, died at the family home south east of Nevada, Friday, April 1st, 1910, age 29 years 5 months and 25 days. She had been ill for many months of that dread malady, consumption. Her funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon at the Summit church, by Rev. Skogsberg, and interment was in the nearby cemetery. Mrs. Drake was a native of Monroe county, Wisconsin, and came to Polk county with her parents when she was child. She was married at Nevada, August thirty-first, 1903, to H. D. Drake, who, with their little sons, Floyd aged five years and Ralph aged five months, survives her. Her father, three brothers and two sisters reside at Spokane, Washington, and remoter relatives live at Des Moines and Slater. Mrs. Drake was affectionate and cheerful even through suffering, and died peacefully in the Seventh Day Adventist faith.
