From Nevada Representative July 8, 1910 (front page)

Miss Catherine Mason

The death of Miss Catherine Mason took place Tuesday morning at her home in the Johnson Grove neighborhood. She had been ill but about a week. Her age was about sixty-five.

Miss Mason was a native of New York state, but with her brothers Ed and Ira she had resided in Story county nearly forty years and their home several years ago took in their nieces Misses Florence and Margaret Gladstone. From this home Miss Florence passed away but four years since, but Miss Margaret remains to be its keeper. Old neighbors of almost four decades testify to the fine qualities of the quiet, gentle woman who has passed and of the merit of the home over which she presided, summing up their estimate in the statement, "Nothing too good can be said of Aunt Kate." Her funeral is held at the Mason residence this forenoon, and interment in the North Cemetery. Dr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald, John Shammo and family and others go over from Nevada to attend the service.
