OBITUARY

Death of Ed. Goodin

Ed. D. Goodin, from his boyhood home one of the well-known resident of this city, although in recent years he had lived mush in Oklahoma was found dead in his bed Sunday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Armstrong, on one of the Halley farms south of Nevada. Mr. Goodin had been in failing health since about the time of his wife's death a couple of years ago, at which time the family were living at Muskogee, Oklahoma. Last year he came up to Nevada and spent sometime with his daughter's family at his family homestead south of the Short Line, and this summer he came up here again evidently in much broken health. This time he has been seen very little on the street, and lately he had been confined to his daughter's home. His son-in-law was up with him during Saturday night; but after a time he quieted down and they both went to sleep. In the morning he was dead.

Mr. Goodin was about fifty years of age and was the last in this vicinity of what was once a numerous family. He grew up here with the boys and girls who are now men and women of this and other communities, and by all of his old associates he will be remembered always with kindliness. He was born September 17, 1858, and he died November 21, 1909. He was married in 1880 to Miss Viola Applegate, and to their union there were born seven children, five of whom survive, Grace, the eldest being Mrs. Ed. Armstrong of this city, and the others being now of Muskogee, excepting the daughter, Faye, who has been here with her father at her sister's home. The other three are Flossie, Joe and Ferald. Mrs. John Dinsmore of this city was a sister of Mrs. Goodin, and the funeral will be conducted from the Dinsmore home this afternoon by Rev. Shaw.
