Janet L. Mahlow, 79, of Zearing, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the Zearing Health Care Center. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa. Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing, Iowa.
Janet was born on December 26, 1936 in Zearing, Iowa to Arthur and Goldie (Cerka) Turner. She attended Zearing High School and graduated in 1955. After high school she married Richard Mahlow on November 1, 1955 in Boston, Massachusetts. The couple relocated to Polk County where they raised their children. In 1979 they retired to her family farm outside of Zearing where they farmed together until 2012. Janet was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, and the Sorosis Club in Zearing. She loved to spend time with her family and they were her pride and joy. Janet also enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, canning, mowing the lawn, and her kitties.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are her husband of 61 years Richard; children Kenny (Penny) Mahlow, LeAnn (Jeff) Miller, and Mark (Bonnie) Mahlow; grandchildren Erin (Fred) Reynolds, Heath Mahlow, Travis Mahlow, Alyssa (Matt) Vanlaar, Lindsey (Bill) Ocker, Stephanie (Tim) Harris, Brandon (Sara) Bice, Danielle (Tim) McDonald, Brandi (Adam) Erickson, Justin Miller, and Zach Miller; great-grandchildren Brady, Carter, Briggs, Adalyn, Noelle, Alivia, Scarlett, Levi, Noah, Kinnick, Parker, and Taytum; brother Ron (Sherlyn) Turner; sisters Cheryl (Stan) Doser, and Janiece (Bruce) Bergland; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Patricia Turner.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice, Tartu Academy of Theology, or the Wings of Refuge in Iowa Falls.
Fredregill Funeral Home, in Zearing, has been entrusted with the care of Janet and her family.
