Margaret Ann Morris, 96, of McCallsburg, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, Iowa. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Fredregill Funeral Home, 310 N. Center St., Zearing, Iowa, from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will follow in the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, Iowa.
Margaret was born on October 4, 1920 to Albert and Addie (Manchester) Smith in Lamont, Iowa. She attended school at Lamont Consolidated School, and graduated in 1938. Following high school,
she went to Upper Iowa University and earned a teaching degree. Margaret taught first grade in McCallsburg from 1940-42. She married Gene Morris on June 10,1942 at the Little Brown Church in Nausha, Iowa.The couple resided in McCallsburg and raised their family there. Margaret was an active member of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church and served as a lady’s aid. She had many talents such as making lefsa, kringla, being a wonderful cook, and having a green thumb within her garden.
Margaret loved; spending time with her family, sleepovers with her grandchildren (putting them on army cots for the night), reading, cooking large family meals, saving articles from the papers for all her grandchildren, and playing cribbage. Her famous words “ta ta ta ta ”
and “we love you” will be greatly missed.Those left to cherish her loving memories are her son Alan (Marsha) Morris of Nevada, Iowa; daughter-in-law Geri Morris of McCallsburg, Iowa; grandchildren Marc (Lori) Morris, Tracey (Brad)
Spainhower, Corey (Melissa) Morris, Jessica (Jeff) Niemann, Jed Morris, Angie (Scott) Tscherter, and Jamie (Angie) Helstedt; great-
grandchildren Zach (Kelsey), Ericson, Kenyon, Caroline, Conner, Cora, Colby, Casey, Brady, Carly, Nile, Caelin, George, and Brady; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, son Darwin, and brother Aaron Smith.
