OBITUARY

Funeral of Mrs. McGloflin

The remains of Mr.s Catherine McGloflin arrived Wednesday noon in charge of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Dr. Oliver, at whose home in Oklahoma City her long life had closed peacefully on the 24th instant. Mrs. Oliver was accompanied by her little son and her maid Miss Barbara Gavin. Mrs. McGloflin's youngest daughter, Mrs. R. B. Harper and her daughter, Miss Genevieve Harper, were here from Neleigh, Nebraska, as were also J. L. Gillespie and family from Des Moines. The funeral service was held at three o'clock at the Gillespie home with many town friends of the deceased in attendance, flowers speaking gentle messages, ladies from the Methodist choir furnishing appropriate music, and Rev. R. E. Shaw conducting an appreciative and uplifting service. His address It was a tender and strong presentation of the consolatory feature of Christ's gospel. It said that Jesus brought the view and understanding of life which gives endurance, and makes the believer ready to live or ready to die; yet that it does not save from sorrow. Sorrow is bound to come, and perhaps it is deeper because of the culture of Christian faith. One lives a larger, richer, deeper life than if not christian, hence he may suffer more. The comfort is that there is hope in this sorrow. The world has always known of mortality; Jesus told of immortality, of purposes of the Father which were so large they could not be wrought out in this life, therefore was corruption to put on incorruption, and mortality to put on immortality; and knowledge of this relation uplifts out of sorrow and gives a sense of triumph over death.
