Gloria Jean Ostrem, 81, of Zearing, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Gloria was born October 6, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Forest Glen and Frances Louise (Armstrong) Scott. She graduated from Colo High School in 1952, and was united in marriage to Noel Kenneth Ostrem on April 8, 1956, in McCallsburg. Gloria was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church, the Arabian Horse Society of Iowa and the Arabian Horse Association.

Gloria enjoyed gardening and cooking, showing horses, cats and sharing the produce from her garden. She loved spending time with her family.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Rob) Shoning of Des Moines; her grandchildren: Ashley (Christopher) Arnold of Texas and Adam Turner of Alabama; and her great-grandchildren: Jorden and Kenlie Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Michael; her sister, Barb Darrah; and her brother, Glen Scott.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1 at the Nevada Baptist Church in Nevada with Pastor Dennis Reynolds officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Colo Cemetery in Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada Baptist Church.
