ABNER WALTZ DIED MONDAY EVENING

PIONEER RESIDENT OF COUNTY PASSED AWAY--FUNERAL HERE THURSDAY

Funeral services for J. A. Waltz, familiarly known in the county as "Ab" Waltz, will be held from the Methodist church in this city Thursday afternoon a t 2:30, after which interment will be in the McDaniels cemetery, near Hickory Grove, southeast of this city. Mr. Waltz died at Mason City Monday evening at 9 o'clock and the body will arrive here today.

Mr. Waltz a native of Indiana, where he was born in 1853, came to Iowa with his parents in 1855, settling on the old Waltz homestead in the southwest quarter of section 29, New Albany township, now owned by the son, Louis Waltz. He was the eldest of the six sons and two daughters of Mr. and Mrs. George Waltz, pioneers of the county.

He lived in the county for the most of his six years but the past few years has made his home in Mason City, where death occurred.

He leaves his wife who lives at Fort Dodge, six sons and five daughters. One of the six daughter is dead. He also leaves three brothers, Charles of Collins, Jacob of State Center and Louis who lives upon the old home place; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Emiline Baldridge of Belmond and Mrs. Sarah Shaffer of Portland, Ore.
