Forrest Lafferty
Forrest Lafferty, 76, of rural Collins, IA, died Saturday, July 29 at the V. A. Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Collins.
Lafferty was born on May 15, 1913 at Collins to John and Cora (Williams) Lafferty. He was a farmer and had been the head outrider for Dick Sparrow's 40-Horse Hitch. Surviving are two brothers, Ronald of Visala, CA and Ray of Colo; three sisters, Mildred Evans, Nevada; Velma Richardson, Eldon, MO; and Vesta Flett of Collins.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers.
Lafferty was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 513, a World War II veteran and a member of the Collins Legion Post No. 81. Masonic services were held at Fredregill Funeral Home on Tuesday evening in Zearing.
