OBITUARY
MRS. JOHANA AYERSMrs. Joanah Allen Ayers died at Nevada at the home of her daughter Mrs. Sarah Wilcox /Saturday morning, November 21, 1914, aged 92 years, 11 months and 11 days. She was born in Ohio, December 10, 1821, was married in Wabash county, Indiana to James Ayers May 6, 1839. To this union, nine children were born all of whom grew to maturity, three of whom are now living. John Ayers and Sarah Wilcox of Nevada Warren Ayers of Hartland, Minn. From 1860 to 1870 Mr. and Mrs. Ayers lived in Wisconsin and from that time their home was near Maxwell and in Iowa Center. Her husband died September 14, 1885 and in 1902 she fell and broke a limb at the home of son William. After this her own home was broken up and she lived with her children. Grandma Ayers was well known to all in the vicinity of Iowa Center where she was ever ready to show kindness and to give assistance in time of sickness and death. he had given a home to six of her grandchildren in addition to other cares. The funeral was held at Iowa Center Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Lookingbill of Maxwell, pastor of the Dunkard church, of which Mrs. Ayers was a consistent member, assisted by Rev. Mallory of Iowa Center, the sermon from Luke 12-49 "Be ye therefore ready also; for the son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." Six of her grandsons serves as pall bearers. Warren Ayers of Hartland, Minn., and Mr and Mrs. Frank Rice of Lake City were in attendance at the funeral.
