OBITUARY

M. S. FLATER

The funeral of the late M. S. Flater was conducted from his late residence Thursday afternoon by Rev. F. R. Shirk. His death, which was very briefly reported in the last issue of this paper, was the result of acute Brights disease and it followed an illness so brief that few of his friends had realized that he was seriously ill. He was down to his meat market on the morning of the day he died; but he was not able to stay and was taken home, his death following in the afternoon.

Martin Samuel Flater was born at Tipton, Cedar county in March 1872 and died at Nevada, September 1, 1914, at the age of about 42 years and six months.

He came to Nevada with the family of his father, M. V. Flater when he was eighteen years of age, and he has lived here ever since. He was married here about fifteen years ago to Miss Loretta Henrehan, and his wife with three daughters survives him, the daughters being Laura, Pauline and Genevieve. He is survived also by his father, his brother John, David and Alfred and sisters, Mrs. Newton Shaffer and Mrs. Maggie Bolton, all of whom were present at the funeral. He was a man active and fairly successful in business, and at the time of his death he was regarded as doing especially well and enjoying most excellent prospects.
