Gwendolyn Marie Hook was born on July 12, 1932 in Van Dyke, Michigan to Dirl and Flora (Harris) Cress. She married Wendell Hook. He preceded her in death. She was a certified Medicine aide at Tri County Nursing Home in Horton, Kansas for many years. Gwen moved to Story City in 1998, where she lived at Cedar Place until moving to Bethany Manor. She enjoyed playing in the bell choir and singing in the choir at Bethany Manor. Gwen enjoyed Elvis movies and being with her family.

Gwen passed away September 1, 2016 at Bethany Manor in Story City at the age of 84.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (John "Slim") Roney of Story City, Ellen (Mark) Wisener of Horton, KS and Linda (Rick) McHugh of Story City; a son, Mark (Julie) McAfee of Horton, KS; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sheryl Earl; grandsons, David and Jerry Earl and Tim Bybee; great grandsons, Dalton Bybee and Austin Mayfield; six brothers and four sisters.
