Elsie Kathryn “Katie” (Baggerly) Grezlak of Ames, formerly of Northridge, Calif., died on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Green Hills Care Center in Ames, Iowa.

Katie was born February 11, 1923 on a farm on Daisy Hill, near Borden, Indiana, to Charles Everett Baggerly and Elsie Lillie (Packwood) Baggerly. She married Thaddeus “Ted” Grezlak on September 29, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1956, Ted and Katie moved to southern California. They were the parents of two children, Susan Kay Grezlak and Robert Bradley Grezlak. Ted passed away in 1982. In 2004, Katie moved to Ames, Iowa, making her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Steve Marley.

Survivors include her daughter and family, Susan (Bob) Trudel, Amber Trudel, Linsey (Jorge) Jaime, and Ryan Trudel; her son, Robert Grezlak; her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Steve Marley; nephew, Mark (Cathrine) Marley and family Erica, Mathias, and Emilie Marley; niece Kathy (Chris) Gourley and sons Jonathan and Ryan Gourley; niece Julianne Marley (Phil Delphey) and son Joseph Delphey; and nephew Patrick Marley (Denise Barnes) and daughter Elsa Marley.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her parents; her sister, Julia Elizabeth (Baggerly) Grezlak; her brother-in-law, William Grezlak; and her nephew, Richard Grezlak.

Interment will take place at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, California at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mid-Iowa Community Action (MICA) Food Pantry, 230 SE 16th Street, Ames, Iowa 50010.
