From the Roland Record, Thursday, January 30, 1919.

Mrs. Knudt Peterson was born July 14, 1835, and died January 25, 1919. Her husband, Mr. Knudt Peterson died Nov. 22, 1916. They were married July 12, 18865 [sic], and just as they were landing in New York harbor the report came that President Lincoln was shot. They went direct to Clinton from New York, where they lived 3 years. They moved from Clinton to a farm two miles east of Story City and lived there for about 8 years, when they moved onto a farm 5 miles south and half a mile east of Roland, where they stayed until 1910, when the moved to Roland.

They celebrated their golden wedding four years ago which was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Mrs. Peterson was always a loyal wife, kind mother and a good neighbor. Two sons and one daughter survive her.

Funeral services were held yesterday from Bergens church, Rev. Smedal officiating. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.

[Transcriber comment: The grave marker for Mrs. Peterson reads Mary wife of Knudt PEDERSON July 14 1834 - Jan 25 1919.]
