Wesley W. Doolittle, 94, of Story City died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be Wednesday after 3 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City with the Rev. Brian McNamara officiating. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery, south of Story City.

Wesley was born Dec. 21, 1909 near Story City to William J. and Marie M. (Mathiason) Dootlittle. He married Sylvia Charlson on Aug. 19, 1942 in Bethany, Missouri. Wesley was an Army veteran of World War II. He farmed until retiring in 1962. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpenter work and played in a polka band.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of Story City, a son, Mark and his wife Cindy of rural Story City; a daughter, Diane Holt and her husband Stephen of Ellsworth; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Wendell; and three brothers, Harley, Richard and Merlin.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
