Harold Richard Harrison II, 55, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at his home.

Harold, the youngest son of Richard D. and Martha (Armour) Harrison, was born September 16, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up east of Boone across the road from the Prairie Center Church and was a graduate of the United Community High School, the Class of 1979. He received a B.A. degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University.

Harold worked on small engines in Ames for years. He occasionally worked as a serviceman for regional Wal-Mart stores, fixing their small equipment. Harold's Shop east of Boone was his dream, a business he built and established two years ago.

Harold belonged to antique tractor clubs and was a member of the Boone Jaycees for years, using his tractor to pull parade floats. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and his patriot was Isaac and Sarah Harrison of Pennsylvania. Harold was a 4-H member who raised a champion calf as well as being an officer in the Future Farmers of America. Harold is remembered for his humorous, sarcastic remarks by those who knew him. He loved music and enjoyed attending local events in his community.

Those left to honor Harold's memory are his fraternal twin brother, Harvey A. Harrison of Boone; his older sister, Vila Beth Harrison of Boone; his older sister, Maria Jane (James) Whetsler of Rome, Iowa; two cousins in New York City; and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois; and his former fiancé, Doreen Thorson, who passed away 14 months ago.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to PO Box 64, Boone, IA 50036 and can be designated to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or Shop With A Cop, an annual Christmas time event serving local children.

Harold's family would like to give special thanks to Pastor Bill Byrd and the congregation at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boone for their special care they gave Harold and his family.

Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
