Emery Donald Munson was born on February 2, 1922 in Roland, Iowa to Eli and Alice (Christian) Munson. He married Sandra Espe on June 19, 1943. Emery graduated from Luther College and taught and coached for 34 years in various high schools in Iowa, retiring from Stockton High School in Illinois. They moved to Story City in 1984. Emery was active the Kiwanis Club, American Legion and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was most proud of being inducted to the northern Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame. Emery had many friends especially the wonderful people at Scandia West Condo who looked out for him and Sandra over the years.
Emery passed away July 24, 2016 at Bethany Manor is Story City at the age of 94.
He is survived by his wife Sandra of Story City; sons, Michael (Conni) of Omaha, NE and Dave of Janesville, WI; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Steve Munson; six brothers, Ray, Olaf, McKinley, Vernon, Joe and Dean and two sisters, Eva Twedt and Alice Michelson.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
