E. B. THOMAS

Elbert B. Thomas died last Thursday at Rochester, Minn., where he had gone to seek relief from illness. He was 54 year old and was engaged as manager of the real estate division of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance company in Ames.

He was born in Green Mountain and graduated from Iowa State college in 1905. He resided for some time in Audubon county, where he was head of the farm bureau and also served two years as state representative from that county. After that the family took up residence in Ames, and Mr. Thomas was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Shriners, the Rotary club and the Ames Golf and Country club.

He was married in 1906 to Minnie Maharg, who, with two sons and one daughter, survive him. The sons are Homer E. Thomas of Ames, and Elbert M. Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; the daughter is Mrs. Frances Cameron of Chicago. He also leaves a brother, Paul, of Los Angeles, and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Tschirgi of Reinbeck and Mrs. E. H. Stover of Norfolk, Neb.

Mr. Thomas made a gallant fight to regain his health, submitting to many operations at the Mayo hospital. He was cheerful, hopeful and always had a smile and pleasant word, and said he was hopeful whenever friend asked him how he was coming. He was an especially capable man and held a very responsible position with the insurance company.

Funeral services were held Saturday and burial made in the Green Mountain cemetery.
