PAUL THOMPSON

Paul Thompson a pioneer and prominent man of Roland died at his home at Roland on Friday morning at the advanced age of 88 years. His death was not wholly unexpected as he had been in failing health for dome time and of the last few been more serious and remained so till the end came.

Mr. Thompson was born in Norway and came to this country in 1847 and settled in Kendall and later settled in Illinois and then in 1856 came to Story county settling in Howard township where they have lived for sixty one years.

In 1851 Mr and Mrs. Thompson were married at Illinois and they coming together to Story county were they were among the first pioneers. To this worthy couple were born three children, Thomas Henry who with the mother survive and the other two sons Edward died some years ago and third child died in infancy. Mrs. Thompson has been an invalid for fifteen years.

The funeral of Mr. Thompson was held Monday afternoon form the Salem church and was largely attended by many friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
