Death of Frank E. Shaw

Word came this morning from Richmond, Virginia, that Frank E. Shaw, formerly of Colo and in more recent years of Clinton Station, Fairfax county, Virginia, had died Monday in the Virginia sanitarium at Richmond, where he had been for the previous two weeks. Mr. Shaw's death follows an illness of about a year. He was a well-known citizen here for many years but removed to Virginia four or five years ago. His brother J. W. Shaw and Mrs. E. A. Binder still reside here. He leaves his wife and two sons. His body is being brought back to Colo and it will be interred here on its arrival.

Obituary of F. E. Shaw

Frank E. Shaw son of James W. and Margaret Zook Shaw was born in Cherokee county Kan. Aug. 29 1866. While still young in years he moved with his parents to Livingston county, Ill. In 1891 he and his brother W. F. Shaw came to Colo and bought the lumber and grain business (which now after various changes belongs to K. R. Frazier & Co.) On Oct. 29 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Cassie B. Wilson at Champaign, Ill. and brought his bride to Colo where they established a home. Two son were born to them Jesse W. and Harold C. April 28 1898 his wife passed from this life to the life beyond. March 19, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Danskin. The same spring they and their two boys moved to Andover, S. D. where they lived for about five years before going to Clifton Station, Va. where they have since resided. Mr. Shaw has been a great sufferer for more than a year with Addison's Disease and a complication of other diseases, which caused his death Jan 26, 1914. (Addison's disease is very rare. Many physicians never saw a case and as yet science has not found a cure.) Since he became afflicted every thing that love or money could do has been done. He has spent much time at different sanitaria and employed the best medical skill but failed to get the desired results. He had been at home for some time returned to the sanitarium at Richmond, Va. two weeks before the end came.

Mr. Shaw has been a christian the greater part of his life and was a man of sterling worth, a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and true friend. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two sons, his aged father, one brother, W. F. Shaw and one sister Mrs. E. A. Binder (who with the exception of his wife and youngest son reside in Colo) and a number of other relatives and a host of friends who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. The remains arrived here Wednesday morning accompanied by his wife and were taken to the E. A. Binder home where the funeral services were held at three in the afternoon conducted by Rev. C. W. Heald of Nevada. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery.
