Vernon Glenn Handsaker was born on the home place four miles North of Colo, Iowa on June 25, 1920 to John William and Clara (Burkhart) Handsaker. He graduated from Colo High School and then attended sheet metal school in Kansas building B29 bombers. He served in the Army from July 24, 1942 until January 31, 1946.
