From Nevada Representative January 17, 1894
Early last week Miss Eldora Mather of Maxwell accompanied by her mother came to Dr. Smith's for the purpose of undergoing a surgical operation for the relief of some long standing and increasing internal difficulties. The operation was performed Thursday afternoon by Dr. F. S. Smith assisted by Drs. E. R. Smith of Toledo and H. D. Chamberlain of this city. The case proved to be a very complicated and difficult one, but the operation was successful and the patient restored to consciousness. Unfortunately, however, the shock of the operation was too great for one of low vitality, and death followed two or three hours later. Miss Mather was thirty years of age, a long and patient sufferer, and was kindly regarded by those who knew her. Mrs. Mather returned to Maxwell Saturday where the remains of her daughter were taken for burial.
