Mrs. Henson Dies at 82; Collins Burial
BAXTER - Mrs. Ethel J. Henson, 82, a Baxter resident in recent years, died Monday at a State Center nursing home. Services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada at 11 a.m. Thursday with her nephew, the Rev. Fred Bickhart of Washington, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Collins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Henson was born near Collins Aug. 7, 1898, to Squire B. and Annetta Hanks Stevens and attended the Prairie Flower and Pleasant Ridge rural schools. She and Raymond Henson, married at Boone May 25, 1920, farmed in the Maxwell area and in 1950 purchased a farm south of Collins. Following his death in 1970, she moved to Baxter.
She was employed 10 years at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada and was a member of the First Assembly of God at Nevada and the Collins Happy Birthday Club.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. Henson, Colo; a daughter, Wilma (Mrs. Richard) Allspach, rural Baxter; a brother, the Rev. William J. Stevens, Washington, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Velma Chandler, Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Eight brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
