Obituary from Schertz Funeral Home, Schertz, Texas:

MSgt. James D. Madden, USAF Retired, passed away on April 5, 2016 in Schertz, Texas at the age of 85. He was born on January 11, 1931 in Auburn, New York to John & Genevieve Madden. James proudly served in the United States Air Force for more than 20 years. He was a loving husband and father and served his community in many ways including being a member of: the Zachary Kuchin Council of Knights of Columbus, St. Cecilia’s (Ames, IA), American Legion Post 37, Ames Chorale Society, a Barber Shop Quartet, 40 & 8, Hartland Senior Center plays, sang with the Conrad Johns Band, St Cecilia’s church choir, and many others.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brother, son: James Garret, and grandson: Michael Benjamin. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Constance; son: Kenneth (San Antonio); daughters: Clare (Colorado), Maureen (Colorado) and Catherine (Schertz); grandchildren: Kenneth, Veronica, Bridget, Anthony, Andrew and Alexis (all from San Antonio & Schertz), Diana & Christine (both from Colorado), and Ashley (Mississippi); 7 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous other loving family members.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00PM on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, Texas. Graveside Services, with full military honors, will take place at 10:30AM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
