Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Donna Mae (Essing) Staples was born October 15, 1936 to William D. and Margaret (McLaughlin) Essing near Manson, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Russel "Rusty" Staples on March 25, 1959. He passed away on April 18, 2014.

Donna was a homemaker, a great seamstress and loved cooking and canning. She worked for W&G Marketing in Jewell and enjoyed many years as a CNA at Bethany Manor in Story City. She and Rusty loved dancing, playing cards and board games. Most enjoyable were the times she spent with family. Her children and many grandchildren were among the great loves of her life

Donna passed away at 79 years of age on April 2, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

She is survived by her children, Cyndie (Carroll) Caruth of Ankeny, Alansen “Lanny” (Laureen) Staples of Lake View, Denise (Brent) Naeve of Humboldt, Mitchell (Gale) Staples of Baltimore, Ohio, Delayna (Don) Beattie of Nashville, Ill., and Nathan Staples of Story City; her grandchildren, Joel (Kelly) Caruth of Eden Prairie, Minn., Jennon (Beth) Caruth of Eden Prairie, Joshua (Mandy) Staples of Columbus, Ohio, Becky (Ryan) Wangsness of Decorah, Chris Snyder of Carroll, Nashay Naeve (Dennis Wang) of Chicago, Ill., Brennon Naeve of Humboldt, Sarah Staples of Baltimore, Ohio, Russel Staples of Baltimore, Ohio, Oliver Staples of Baltimore, Ohio, Jordan Rude of Ankeny, Maggie (Kate) Roberts of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Evan (Paula) Beattie of Plainfield, Ill.; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Essing of Perry and Gary (Sue) Kleen of Red Wing, Minn., a sister, Juanita (Rich) Hanson of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Essing of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rusty Staples; a daughter, Leslie Staples; a grandson, Nicholas Rude; and her brother, Lowell Essing.
