Services Held Nov. 19 For Mrs. Nellie Canady, Story City
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles (Nellie) Canady were held Tuesday, November 19, at 2 p.m. in Grace E.U.B. Church in Story City. Pastor H. W. Riegel officiated. Burial was in the cemetery at Gilbert.
Kenneth Peterson was vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Darrel Doolittle.
Pall bearers were Arnold Peterson, G. H. Amlund, Warren Kennedy, Arthur Frandson, Henry Skeie and Ed Peterson.Obituary
Nellie Soffia Johnson was born October 7, 1891 at Gilbert, Iowa. She was the daughter of John S. and Rachel Johnson. In 1905 she was confirmed in the Emanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Story City. She was a member of that church until after her marriage to Charles Canady on December 14, 1910. She joined the Congregational Church in Gilbert and was a member there until 1920 when she and her husband and children moved to Story City where she joined the Story City Grace E.U.B. Church.
Preceding her in death was one son, Everett Charles, who died in infancy.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Naig of Story City and Mrs. Howard Hewitt of Spencer; one son, Merritt of Washington, Iowa; one brother, Palmer Johnson of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Stella Adams of Dallas and five grandchildren.
