Doris Eleanor Craig, 96, of Nevada, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Windsor Manor in Nevada.

Doris was born March 5, 1920, in Deep River, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ola (Braden) Jordan. She graduated high school from What Cheer, Iowa and attended AIB for two years. On December 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to James Craig in Manhattan, Kansas. Doris had worked as a bookkeeper at the Story County Auditor’s Office.

Doris was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, taking camping trips south, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sharon Renfrow of Sunrise Beach, MO; her grandchildren: Theresa Lewis of Colfax, Wendy Vetting of Lusby, MO, Christy Clark of Des Moines and Melaunie Ramler of Ellsworth; her great-grandchildren: Jon, Nick, Kaylee and Maddie Vetting, Jilane and Jake McFadden, Logan Hassebrock, Kyle and Brady Weuve and McKenna Ramler.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Gertrude Jordan; her husband James in 2011; her son, Terry Craig; and her brother, Lesley Jordan.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens near Nevada. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Nevada in memory of Doris.
