TAPS SOUND FOR A VETERAN
Silent taps were sounded for Comrade J. P. Alderman Monday afternoon about 3 o'clock and the funeral is being held this afternoon.
Mr. Alderman was stricken with apoplexy at the Odd Fellows Temple a couple weeks ago and was taken to the hospital where he seemed to grow better. He was then removed to his home. Monday afternoon he sank slowly to sleep and the funeral is being held this afternoon, the Masons have charge of the services.
The passing of time takes with it the volunteers of the Civil war. Mr. Alderman served his country in the horrible conflict in the southland and came home, never to regain his former health. He was one of the most honorable men and held highly in the esteem of the people of the entire county. To the relatives there is the knowledge of the passing of one of the best and most loyal citizens of the city.
The body was taken to the Duckworth undertaking parlors where he was prepared for burial and where the body remained for a day that friends might take a final look at him.
