Terry Pierce Hurless was born on May 11, 1943 to Wallace and Cleo (Pierce) Reed in Foley, Alabama. Wallace and Cleo were later divorced. Cleo married Stanley Hurless, and Terry was adopted by Stanley.

Terry and Diana Speck were married on March 28, 1964 at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was and a parts manager for auto dealerships in California and Nevada, and then at Allen Motors and George White Chevrolet in Ames. Terry and Diana enjoyed boating on Lake Mead during their time in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed bowling, cooking, and barbecuing. Terry’s real passion was racing whether it was NASCAR or dirt track.

Terry passed away at 73 years of age on February 10, 2016 at his home in Ames.

Terry is survived by his wife, Diana Hurless of Ames; his son, Erik Landis Hurless; his step-mother, Margaret Reed; his brother, Steve Reed; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Reed; his adoptive father, Stanley Hurless; his mother, Cleo Hurless; and his brother, Michael Reed.
