From Nevada Representative January 30, 1889
Omar Dutton, son of O. B. Dutton, shot himself through the head with suicidal intent at the home of his brother, O. E. Dutton in Manning last Thursday evening and died Friday afternoon. He was fifteen years of age ans is kindly remembered by many people in Nevada where he was born and lived until the removal of his father a few years ago. Since the death of his mother about a year ago he had been melancholy, and he left a note saying the he was tired of life and wished to be buried beside his mother. This last request was complied with Saturday evening. His remains were brought on the afternoon train from the West and were accompanied by his father and sister, Jennie, O. E. Dutton and wife, O. J. Dutton. The burial services were conducted by Mr. Otis Briggs.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Omar B. Dutton was the son of Orson Benejohn Dutton and Elizabeth A. Beavers. Elizabeth A. (Beavers) Dutton died on 24 April 1888 in Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa. As implied by the article she and Omar were buried in the Nevada Cemetery.
His sister, "Jennie," was Jeanette Dutton and his brother Jay was Jay Grant Dutton. The other brothers mentioned were Omar's half-brothers (by his father's first wife): O. E. Dutton was Orson Ernest Dutton and O. J. Dutton was Orin J. Dutton.
