From Nevada Representative September 28, 1887

Obituary.

Mrs. Maria Statler, died at the residence of J. A. Fitchpatrick in the city, Saturday, September 24th, 1887, aged seventy six years, four months and ten days. She was born in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. In Stoystown, of the same state, she was married to Jonathan Stetler; there her four children were born and two of them buried. In 1856, the family removed to Nevada which town her son, Mr. S. S. Statler had visited a year before. Here Mr. Jonathan Statler died in 1860, and the remaining daughter, Mrs. E. M. Ferner, later. Mrs. Statler had long been an invalid, but her rare degree of patience, cheerfulness and hope endeared her to all who were with her. Her obsequies at the Methodist church on Monday called together a large assembly of relatives, neighbors and friends, to whom Elder Cozier, her esteemed friend and former pastor, preached an impressive sermon on the importance of the development of human character.
