DIED--At his home in Nevada, Iowa, Friday, January 21st 1887, Amos H. Pierce, aged nearly 69 years. He was born in Pembroke, Genesee county, N. Y. in 1818. In 1847 he married Pauline Lawson, in the town of Batavia, N. Y. at which place he lived until 1871, when with his family he came to Iowa and located in Nevada. Mr. Pierce came west with considerable means, but unfortunate investments greatly reduced it. He was a thoughtful and well informed man and his moral and business integrity were above reproach. His health during this residence in the West has not been robust and the sickness which resulted fatally was of two or three months duration. He entertained in life broad and generous views of God and human destiny and passed to his rest without distrust of infinite love and care. He will not only be missed by his family, but by neighbors and acquaintances. His funeral was attended Sunday afternoon from his late residence.
