OBITUARY
Mrs. Cornelia A. McGibbon
Cornelia Ann Benson was born July 15, 1842 near Mt. Vernon, Knox county, Ohio, and died at her home in Colo, Tuesday, March 4, 1919 aged 76 years 7 months and 20 days. When one year of age she moved with her parents to [unreadable], where they lived until 1853 when they moved to a farm in Cedar Co., Ia. In 1865 she was united in marriage to George McGibbon. One child was born to this union, Charles Andrew. In 1869 they moved to farm 3 1/2 miles south of Colo which remained her home until fifteen years ago (after her husband's death), she with her son and his family moved to their present home in Colo where she passed away. At an early age when united with the M. E. church in which she kept her membership except for the years spent on the farm when she attended the United Brethren church at Dalton. On account of failing health it has been many years since she was able to take an active part in affairs outside of the home, but she always retained an interest in others. Mr. and Mrs. McGibbon took the place of parents to Mrs. W. P. Thornton form early childhood till she married and went to her own home. Mrs. McGibbon has been in poor health for several years, but steadily failing. Upon going to her room early Tuesday morning the family were shocked to find that she had peacefully passed away, evidently but a few moments before. All that loving hearts and willing hands could do to add to her comfort had been faithfully done by her family during her years of affliction. She leaves to mourn their loss her son Chas. A. and wife one grand-daughter Thalia McGibbon and Mrs. W. P. Thornton besides two sisters and one brother living in California who were unable to attend the funeral. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10:30 a. m. from the M. E. church the Rev. L. E. Coleman officiating and the body tenderly laid to rest beside her husband in the Colo cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
