From Nevada Representative March 28, 1883

Mrs. H. D. Ballard of Radcliffe, after a long and weary struggle with that dread disease, consumption, peacefully passed to her rest last Sunday. Her remains were brought to Nevada Monday, and her funeral services, conducted by Rev. Mr. Mills, held at the residence of Recorder Boyes, Tuesday afternoon. From thence the spirit's frail tenement of clay was taken to its final resting place in our city cemetery. Mrs. Ballard was well known in this community and was regarded by all who knew her as a most estimable woman. Besides the many friends and acquaintances who will sadly miss her, she laves a husband and son to deeply mourn her irreparable loss. The kindly sympathy of Mr. Ballard's many friends in Nevada and throughout the county go out to him and his in this severe affliction.
