From Stevens Memorial Chapel obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Dorothy Pierson, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Eastern Star in Boone, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with burial to follow at the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Dorothy Louise Wiederrecht was born December 6, 1925, in Mediapolis, Iowa to Paul and Mary (Foster) Wiederrecht. She grew up in Burlington, Iowa and graduated from Burlington High School and Burlington College of Commerce.

Dorothy was united in marriage to John Robert "Bob" Pierson in March of 1947 in Burlington. In 1957, they moved to a farm in the Pleasant Lawn area of rural Mt. Pleasant where she resided over 40 years. After the couple divorced, Dorothy moved to Ames to help babysit her granddaughters.

She had been a farm wife and homemaker and was known to her expertise in landscaping, gardening, and sewing skills. In her later years, she enjoyed going to garage sales, working in the yard, and visiting with neighbors. Most of all, Dorothy loved caring for her family, making them meals, and held them all close to her heart.

Survivors include her daughter, Lora (Robert) Larrance of Ames; granddaughters, Amy and Stephanie Larrance, both of Ames; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Janet Seager and Marilyn Eaton; and her former husband, Bob.
