Allen Lee McGonigle was born January 12, 1940 to William and Hazel (Lunning) McGonigle in Renwick, Iowa. Allen married Luanne Knutson on August 12, 1961.

Working as a painter was something Al enjoyed for much of his life. For 21 years he was the owner of the Gem Café in Jewell. For the last decade, he worked with the wonderful staff of Professional Property Management in Ames.

Al’s biggest pride in life was his family. He enjoyed visits from his grandkids and summers with his great-grandchildren. He took pleasure in small things like fishing trips, his cats and drinking coffee.

Al passed away at 75 years of age on October 5, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Surviving Al is his wife, Luanne; his children, Janelle (Brian) Oakland of Jewell, Kevin (Sara) McGonigle of Jewell and Jolene McGonigle of Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren, Josh, Matt, Missy, Amanda, Megan, Max, Dawn, Amber, Kaitlin and Jacob; five great-grandchildren, Viviana, Jarren, Clark, Banan and Athena; and his sister, Doris Fagerland of Normal, Il.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William McGonigle Jr.; and two sisters, LaVonne Olson and Theola Peterson.
