LESTER GLASGOW

Lester Glasgow, 86, of Brooklyn, died Sunday afternoon, June 30, 1996, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn.

There will be no visitation and burial will be held at a later date at Kent Cemetery, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Grinnell. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home of Brooklyn is in charge of arrangements.

Lester Glasgow, son of Brick and Florence Kitchen Glasgow, was born June 18, 1910, in Iowa Center, Iowa. He was raised in Maxwell and Iowa Center area. He married Ruth Billings on March 31, 1930, near Waterloo. They farmed at Maxwell for several years and then moved to Shipley until he started to work for the Animal Disease Lab at Ames where he worked for 15 years. After he retired from the lab and Ruth retired from Donelly Corp., they moved to Holiday Lake near Brooklyn and later into Brooklyn.

Lester is survived by his wife, Ruth of Brooklyn; four daughters, Shirley Alverson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Nissen of Kettering, Ohio, Bonny Settle of Aurora, Colo., and Donna Childs of Glendale, Ariz.; one son, Ron Glasgow of Rogers, Minn; one sister, Ina Pogue of Green Isle, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Major and LeRoy Glasgow, and two sisters, Elva Glasgow and Lola Williams.
