The funeral of Mrs. S. M. McCall, a former resident of this place, was held at the Dunn undertaking parlors in Des Moines Friday afternoon at 9 o'clock, Rev. Fahs pastor of the Presbyterian church of Cedar Falls giving a short sermon after which the remains were laid to rest in Glendale cemetery. Anna Reece was born near Des Moines in young womanhood was married to S. M. McCall, five children were born to them, Mrs. Rosa Bales of Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Hattie Hoffman of Des Moines; Jennie, teaching in Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Clara Kaiser of Marshalltown, one child died in infancy. Besides the husband and children she is survived by ten grandchildren, an aged father, several brothers and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. McCall and family lived here several years, she being a charter member of the Presbyterian church of this place, after moving to Zearing but have made Cedar Falls their home for past nine years, the last two years of which has been spent at various health resorts in hopes of recovering her health, the last resort and only chance was an operation which was performed but to no avail she passed away Sunday, March 4 at Marlin, Texas at the age of 59 years. The remains were brought to Des Moines by the husband who was with her at the time of her death and daughter Mrs. Hoffman who did not reach her mother's bedside before she passed away. Mrs. McCall's friends are numbered by whose who knew her, whose sympathy is extended to the husband and daughters in their sorrow.
