Barbara Sue Van Voorhis was born November 15, 1942 to George and Edna (Skeers) Kyle in Mitchell County, Iowa. Barbara married Rodger Van Voorhis on June 9, 1963 in Elkader, Iowa. She worked in Dietary Services at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Barbara passed away at 72 years of age on September 10, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Rodger Van Voorhis of Ames; her children, Bonnie (Kevin) Edwards of Morrisonville, NY, Terry (Jennie) Van Voorhis of Boone and Ricky Van Voorhis of Ames; two grandchildren, Kristen and William; her siblings, Howard (Delores) Kyle of Ames, Marilyn (Everett) Freel of Ames, Carole (Don) Gearhart of Vacaville, CA and Donna Luther of Polkton, NC; and her sister-in-law, Pat Kyle of Kelley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Merit; and her sister, Patricia.
