Carol Ann Vekre was born July 26, 1943 to Eugene and Florence Furman in Story City, Iowa. Carol graduated from Story City High School in 1961. After graduation, Carol worked at Iowa State for several years and then began working in 1970 as a bookkeeper for Hunziker and Furman Realty/H&F Builders for 25 years. She then went to work for HCS for an additional 10 years until she retired in 2005.

Carol loved spending time with her family and doing many outdoor activities including fishing, gardening, camping, and watching her grandkids sporting events and activities. Her cat Yogi was a highlight of her life and she enjoyed his companionship. Carol was known for her love of cooking and pride in making sure that everyone had enough to eat, even though everyone was already full, she always made you have one more serving. We all loved her kringla.

Carol passed away at her home on September 4, 2015 at the age of 72 years.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Connie Osmundson of Story City. Three grandchildren, T.J. (Cassie) Stevens of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tanner Stevens of Story City, Colton Osmundson of Story City and two great grandchildren Sophia and Chase Stevens of Wichita Falls, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Florence Furman and her son-in-law, Jeff Osmundson.

Carol touched many people’s lives in many different ways. Her contagious smile and great attitude affected many people. She will be loved and missed by all of the people who were fortunate to be in her life.
