Obituary from Hamilton Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa:

Nancy Jean Kruse-Bock

b. 9/19/1961
d. 8/16/2015

Nancy Kruse-Bock arrived in this life in Des Moines, Iowa, the last of 6 children born to Steven and Frances Kruse. She lived most of her early life in the Slater-Huxley area.

She attended college at Iowa State University, receiving the first of her several degrees in 1985. It was also there that she met Scott Bock and they married in 1986 and subsequently lived in various places while serving in the Navy.

Scott and Nancy have 2 children: son, Tanner and daughter, Cody. After their divorce, Nancy moved to Ankeny where she raised Tanner and Cody and where she resided at the time of her passing. It was also there that she found her true calling, receiving her nursing degree from Grand View University, with subsequent masters in nursing from Kaplan University in 2014. She was continually studying and working to perfect her nursing skills.

Nancy was a dedicated employee of Broadlawns Medical Center and Mobile Crisis and taught at Kaplan University. Her coworkers and students were an important part of her life, especially after she was stricken by breast cancer, which she bravely faced for more than two years. Nancy relied on her strong faith to sustain her through the difficult times.

Her great loves in life were her kids, Tanner and Cody, riding her Harley, her cats, her nursing career, and her many friends and coworkers.

In addition to her children, Nancy is survived by and will be greatly missed by her parents, Steven and Frances Kruse, and her siblings and their spouses, Stephanie and Jim Fischer (daughter Natalie), Brenda Kruse and Rod Mechaelsen, Grant and Cindy Kruse (daughters Beth Cornelison with her husband Mike and children, Ainsley and Keller; and Heather Kruse with her husband Chris Healey), Judy Parks (sons Grant and Steven), and Clark Kruse. She will also be greatly missed by the many friends and coworkers who came to know and love her spirit and style.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League, 1615 SE 14th Street, Des Moines, IA 50320 in loving memory of Nancy.
