Rose Allie Guge, daughter of William and Eliza Guge, was born southeast of Nevada, May 24, 1872 and died May 10, 1952 at 7:45 a.m. at her home in Nevada, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 17 days. She had been a resident of Story county her entire life.
At the age of 15 she was baptized and united with the Evangelical church at Iowa Center, Iowa.
On April 12, 1891 she was united in marriage to William McDougal Brodie of Maxwell, Iowa. To this union was born ten children, four daughters; Mable, Roselma, Mary and Jennie; six sons, Kenneth, Walker, John, Andrew, Ralph and William.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1913, two brothers, one sister and one son, Andrew William Brodie in 1918.
She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Mrs. Tennis Larson of Slater, Mrs. Cleo Bond of Nevada, Mrs. C. S. Christy of Nevada and Mrs. Roy Hansen of Ames; five sons, Kenneth of Topeka, Kansas, Robert of Edmonds, Washington, John, Andrew and Ralph of Nevada. She is also survived by one sister, Belle Mitchell of Ames. There are twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
