Barbara “Barb” Lynn Lofton, 54, of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

Barb was born August 27, 1960, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Benda) Dost. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1979, and had worked for the Story County Hospital in Nevada since 2000. Growing up Barb enjoyed being active with the Eye Openers Drum and Bugle Corp, and later helping with the Nevada Middle School Theatre and being involved with A.C.T.O.R.S. in Ames.

Barb is survived by her son, Odie John Lofton and his wife Raven of Nevada; her mother, Marie Dost of Marshalltown; her brother and sisters: Frieda Dost of Nevada, Marcia (Gerald) Eilers of Redfield, Sue Dost of Corpus Christi, TX, Dave Dost of Marshalltown, Cindy (Randy) Swaim of Columbia, SC and Joni Hickman of Toledo; along with 10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Monday, August 24, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with memorial services beginning at 6 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service, also at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa River Hospice in loving memory of Barb.
