Brother of Resident Dies
Kay Elliott, 63, a longtime resident of the Rhodes and Collins community, died at his farm home Saturday evening, Dec. 5th, after a lingering illness. He is a brother of Mrs. Ralph Williams of this city.
The son of Hez and Carrie Elliott, he was born Sept. 4, 1901 at Fredericksburg, Ind. and attended rural schools.
Mr. Elliott moved to Iowa in 1917, settling near Collins. He was married to Dorothy Stier March 1, 1935 at Bloomington, Ill. and since that tie had farmed in the Collins and Rhodes area.
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Frye of Marshalltown; a grandson, Jeffrey Frye; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Elliott of Collins; two brothers, Everett of Collins and Wayne of Gilman; four sisters, Mrs. Dan (Ruby) Louks of Wilmington, Calif., Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Williams of Colfax, Mrs. Ralph (Lillian) Cecil of Evanston, Ill. and Mrs. Gilbert (Beulah) Tankersley of Lakewood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhodes Methodist Church. Rev. Jack Hooten, minister of the church conducted the services.
Burial was at Eden Cemetery at Rhodes.
