Services held for Ada Swallwell

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18, for Ada Isabell Swallwell at the cooper funeral Home in Maxwell.

Burial was in the Peoria Cemetery in Maxwell.

Survivors are two brothers, Charley Swallwell of Maxwell and George Swalwell of Baxter; one sister, Mrs. Eva Bark of Des Moines; and a host of relatives and friends.

The daughter of Thomas and Harriett Kimberley Swalwell, she was born August 29, 1894, in rural Jasper County.

She was a graduate of Collins High School and attended and graduated from the University of Iowa.

She taught school several years and later came to care for her parents.

Miss Swalwell was a member of the Methodist Church in Collins, was active in the women’s Auxiliary of the American legion, was president of the Garden Clubs of Iowa, a credited judge of flower shows and also active in horticultural work out of Iowa State University.

She died Friday, July 16, 1976, at the Story County Hospital in Nevada. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 5 Aug 1976.
