Isabel Smith
November 8, 1916 - May 25, 2015

Isabel Smith, age 98, of Nevada and formerly of Collins, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at Story Medical Senior Care in Nevada, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Collins, with Pastor Jerry Swanberg officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Collins. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

Born November 8, 1916, in Swaledale, Iowa, Isabel Alice Smith was the daughter of William and Nellie (Roberts) Neale. The family lived in Cambridge, Iowa, for awhile before settling in Collins where Isabel graduated from high school in 1934.

Following graduation, Isabel worked for Dr. Richardson in Collins. On July 2, 1938, she married Orville Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at Luing Grocery and Barrett Grocery in Collins. Isabel was a member of the Collins Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano for over fifty years. She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Isabel was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; her parents; three brothers, Bob, Wilford “Brownie”, and Donald Neale; and three sisters, Doris Harris, Connie Neale, and Nora Holsinger.

Survivors include three sons, Gordon (Pat) Smith of Maxwell, Galen (Sue Marie) Smith of Louisville, CO, and Steve (Denise) Smith of Collins; five grandchildren, Lanny (Linda) Smith of Gretna, NE, Bryce (Teresa) Smith of Maxwell, Jenny Smith of Ames, Billie Moffet of Maxwell, and Karen (Mike) Eisenring of Pine, CO; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Conley of Ames; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Isabel and her family.
