Raymond Leroy Youngman
June 4, 1923 - June 13, 2015

Ray Youngman went to be home with the Lord on June 13, 2015 at the age of 92.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, 50010). A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Heartland Baptist Church (3504 Grand Ave., Ames, 50010). A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the Eldora City Cemetery.

Ray was born to Helge and Marie (Nelson) Youngman on June 6, 1923, in Valley, Nebraska. Raymond graduated from Valley High School in Nebraska. After High School Ray took a short course at the University Of Nebraska College Of Agriculture. This is where he first met the love of his life, a young lady by the name of Arlene Wooten. Ray and Arlene were united in marriage on August 18, 1952, and from this union they were blessed with three boys, Myron, Gary and David. Ray and Arlene remained in the Valley-Fremont area until October of 1956, before moving to New Providence Iowa.

Ray made his living on the farm he built with Arlene, raising crops, cattle, chickens and swine. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, and watching his grand kids and great grand kids grow. Ray became a fan of the University of Iowa and Iowa State sports later in his life.

Ray is survived by his three sons; Myron Youngman of Beijing, China, Gary (Kim) Youngman of Story City, Iowa, David (Jane) Youngman of Savage, Minnesota, grandchildren; Ashley (Logan) Hobbs, Mathew Youngman, Sarah Youngman, Emily Youngman, Luke Youngman, great-grandchildren; Tucker Hobbs, and Lexi Youngman, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Arlene (Wooten) Youngman, grandson; Andrew Youngman, and brother; Eugene Youngman.
