Carol Aletha Archer, 75, of Des Moines, formerly of Nevada, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Carol was born January 16, 1940, in Nevada to Clarence and Eleanor (Sarsfield) McConnell. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1958 and attended business school in Des Moines. Carol had worked as an office manager for Preferred Risk.

Carol was a member of the College Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines, where she was very active. She was a licensed minister and always put others first. Carol enjoyed cribbage, John Wayne and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her sons: Michael Archer of Nashville, TN, Richard (Tonya) Archer of Paducah, KY; her daughters: Sandra (Dale) Butkovich of Collinsville, IL, Meagan Archer of Des Moines, Shannan Paradelas of West Des Moines, Amber Archer of North Scituate, RI, and Stephanie Archer of Des Moines; her brother, Ray (Janis) Thompson-McConnell of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren: Zach Dismukes, Rachel Kelly, Wade Dismukes, Nicholas, Patrick, Daniel, Blake and Raegan Archer; seven great-grandchildren; and her niece, Molly McConnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Laurie Archer; and a brother, Larry McConnell.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Nevada, with inurnment to follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. All are invited to join the family at 1 p.m. at the church for a luncheon prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
