WILLIAM P. KINTZLEY

William Perry Kintzley passed away at 7:10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at his home 3621 Woodland. He was 85 years of age and had been ill since last summer. He was a patient at Iowa Lutheran Hospital for three weeks in October. Death was caused by malignancy.

Mr. Kintzley was born May 19, 1859, north of the college, near Ames. He left here in 1889, moving to Pocahontas county. He returned to Ames in 1908, and has since made his home here.

His parents came to Ames from Indinola in 1854. His father died in the Civil War. Mr. Kintzley attended the first school in Ames on the banks of Squaw Creek. He was a horticulturalist, stockman and a general farmer, and worked under Professor Budd during his early married life. He was married Agnes Ella Hays, December 25, 1882, at Cherokee, Iowa.

Surviving him are his wife, one son, William Perry Kintzley, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; four daughter, Mrs. Agnes Ressegule, Laurens, Iowa, Mrs. H. E. Crippen, Cherokee, Iowa, Mrs. Harriet K. Campbell, Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. R. Howard Porter, Ames. One daughter, Mary, passed away in 1913, and infant son also preceded him in death. Twenty-grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive him. All the surviving children were with him at the time of his death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., from the Adams chapel, with Dr. Walter Barlow of the Collegiate Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in the Ontario cemetery.
